I got the wrong idea about this book. I really thought this biography would be a book based on a conversation the Author had with Michelle. Instead the author pulled information from sources of various articles, past interviews, some friends and family members that the author put together. Nothing wrong with that, but I was expecting a more social approach (Michelle's personal philosophy, her thoughts for the present, the future (for herself and family) instead of a history style approach used to analyze Michelle's life....

As much as I love reading about the Obamas, I didn't feel the connection between the author and Michelle's life. Like Richard Wolff's book on President's Obama.

This book is an ok read, it's just not what I thought it would be; I thought it would be a book based on an interview or at least based on the author's interaction with the First Lady. Instead it was a chronological study, clips of research done Michelle's life.

I liked this. A good basic story of her early life up to Barack's decision to run for president. I was a little disappointed that it stopped where it did. I would liked to have followed her into the White House and her adjustments to being First Lady. That being said, it was a competent view of her life up to that point.

I read this book in the last yeE of the Obama presidency and have had an opportunity to see Michelle Obama perform her advocacy and surrogate role on the real stage. This book captures what she would be like accurately and it makes me feel she is real- a confident, smart, straight talking and compassionate First Lady. Excellent read

The most important contribution this book has made is about Michelle's family background and them middle class values she inherited from her parents. Also, how her life was influenced by her brother and her studies at Princeton.
love this book
