Adewale Ademoyega; "The Nigerian Revolution and the Biafran War" - Maj-General Alex Madiebo; and "The Five Majors" - Col. Ben Gbulie. Of these 4 books, I saw just two, one of which I bought (for now) due to price (and unavailability of POS). Akpan; The Biafra Story: the making of an African legend by Frederick Forsyth; Danjuma: the making of a General by Lindsay Barret (for Ge. Y Danjuma); Nzeogwu by Gen. Olusegun Obasanjo, and so many others. Alex Madiebo played one of the most active roles during the Biafran war.

The Nigerian Civil War (also known as the Biafran War and the Nigerian-Biafran War) was a civil war in Nigeria fought between the government of Nigeria and the secessionist state of Biafra from 6 July 1967 to 15 January 1970. Biafra represented nationalist aspirations of the Igbo people, whose leadership felt they could no longer coexist with the Northern-dominated federal government.

A retired general of the Biafran Army presents a post-mortem account of the events of the Nigerian civil war, 1966-70. He attempts to explain dispassionately why army officers toppled the civil government in the cause of stability, and the considerable civilian support they received; and the ensuing riots and counter-coup, in the name of reunification, which led to a civil war claiming some three million lives. He presents eye-witness accounts, and from an insider-perspective tells the story of how and why the Biafrans fought the war for almost three years under blockade and in isolation from the outside world, aiming to rectify much perceived misinformation about the war published outside Africa.

This book outlines what led to the bloodiest African war and tragedy.Biafra was a child of necessity as the victims of the pogroms debated if it were better to die fighting or simply lay down and hope on the mercy of their adversary. As tragic as the events were which led to this war, Nigeria seems condemned to repeat its bloody history.

From other sources (notably Steiner), we now know that Alex Madiebo may have stretched the truth a few times.

Still a contribution to the body of knowledge on the Nigerian Civil War.
