An interesting and somewhat unusual book on the battle of el Alamein through the eyes of an Australian soldier, Herb Ashby. Although told in the second person, it is obviously an oral history. Apart from a few minor editorial errors, it is an enjoyable read. Anyone interested in the Australian battle around Tel el Eisa before and during the battle of Alamein should read this book.

A very interesting book about Australia's involvement in the Battle of Alamein in 1942, written from the perspective of one of the men from Australia's most highy decorated infantry battalion of the conflict. There are a few small factual errors in the book, but his hardly detracts from what I found to be a gripping tale about a very bloody battle told from the foot sloggers point of view.
Well worth a read.
