It's not until they've nearly given up in exasperation that the two cats learn the surprising truth about Gordon --- he's not the dimwitted dog they thought he was! Author-illustrator Ashley Spires has created a hilarious premise for this unique series. The artwork, with its limited palette of soft neutral colors, keeps the focus on the animals' antics. The dialogue is mainly in cat- or dog-speak (?roooph!?), but Spires also includes many other sound effects (including ?pssssssss? for peeing and ?poot? for gas passing). This book is clever and funny, with lots of action, melodrama and laugh-out-loud physical comedy, making it enormously appealing to emerging readers. In addition, the inclusion of the topic of diversity here provides an opportunity for classroom discussions about differences and our expectations about others. The book also speaks to the character education concepts of initiative, responsibility and teamwork.

So cute I stocked this at Amazon and had to have it for myself (I'm 27). The art is beautiful and the humor is good for adults and kids.

Got this and the other books in the series for my niece who recently turned 6. She loves them. Her mom reads them to her and she reads them as well. They are a little bit longer than most books for the age group, but the story and drawings are terrific and keep her interested.

Binky has made progress in the F.U.R.S.T. ranks and is now about to train his first recruit. He's both excited and nervous. But when the recruit shows up, Binky is sure there's been a horrible mistake.

Ah. Ok, I've read one of the P.U.R.S.T. adventures before and reading this I now understand how that organization fits in with Binky's. I know. It's my fault for reading them out of order. There's a twist in the ending I didn't necessarily see coming. These graphic novels are great for reluctant readers and animal lovers. They are short and feature lots of cute animals.

Notes on content: Only aliens (aka insects) are hurt. Some bathroom humor.

I love Binky! Somehow I allowed this installment of Binky's space adventures to languish on my iPad, but I'm glad I finally had a chance to read it. Binky has been given a promotion, and he's getting a new cadet to train. To his dismay, however, he learns that FURST (Felines of the Universe Ready for Space Travel) has morphed into PURST (Pets of the Universe Ready for Space Travel) in an effort to diversify its membership. He's upset to think that he's a Space Pet, instead of an esteemed Space Cat. To add insult to injury, his new trainee isn't a CAT, but a lesser life form instead. Gordon is a puppy! What is the world coming to?

This book is hilarious! Poor Binky is at his wit's end. Not only is Gordon clumsy, noisy, and an attention hound (pun intended), Binky starts to think that he's a double agent. Why else would the aliens be so interested in Gordon's waste matter? Why else would he be stealing Binky's human's possessions? Why else would he deactivate the anti-alien device?? Things are looking mighty grim in Binky's world, but he needs concrete proof before he can go to his superiors. With Gracie's help, Binky begins a careful and thorough investigation into the motives and behavior of his new charge, and what he discovers is surprising.

This is such a cute series. The art is comical yet expressive, and Binky's adventures are always good for a few laughs. I enjoyed the introduction of Gordon, and more specifically, I found Binky's reaction to his new student amusing. With his superior cat attitude, he is resigned to teaching a not so bright trainee, but he isn't certain of success. Once the evidence stacks up and Gordon looks like a double-agent, Binky and Gracie race against the clock to maintain the integrity of their space station and the safety of their humans. This is great stuff, and now I am convinced that Bumble and Poppy are member of PURST. They are like ninjas, albeit occasionally clumsy ninjas, in their efforts to take out aliens. I have never had dogs so determined to wipe out the insect population in the nearby vicinity, so I wonder - have these guys been through boot camp, possibly with Lieutenant Binky?

This is the 4th book in the Binky the Space cat children's graphic novel series. This was a cute installment in the series and my son and I really enjoyed reading it together.

Binky has been authorized to train in other space cats. He is excited to welcome his new cadet and has worked very hard on a training program. When his cadet shows up though he is nothing like Binky thought he would be...in fact Binky thinks he might even be an alien spy!

These books are super fun. The drawings are humorous, well-done, and adorable all at the same time. If you love cats you will love Binky the Space cat. The whole premise of these books is that Binky thinks his house is a space ship, insects are aliens, and outside the house is space. He is on a mission to protect his humans from the evil aliens.

There's a great little mystery here as Binky and his neighboring space cat try to figure out what's up with this new cadet. Along the way the cats learn a lesson in tolerance. They learn that people can be good at different things and that you should accept people for who they are and allow them to contribute to a cause in their own way.

These are well written graphic novels that are entertaining for both adults and kids. I highly recommend them; especially if you have a kid that's a fan of cats.

Overall a great installment in the Binky series. The illustration is well done and the story is full of twists and turns. Binky is funny but always well-meaning and his mission to save humans from all aliens is one to be admired. Recommended to cat fans of all ages.
