I finally got my book, and I love it! So will teachers, parents, and kids! Baby Rattlesnake throws a temper tantrum that’s so loud that his tribe gives in. My favorite part…an elder says let him have his rattle. He’ll get into trouble, learn a lesson, and everyone else can sleep.

That’s exactly what happens! Baby picks the wrong human, the chief’s daughter. She lets Baby have it, and he goes home crying. Hopefully, lesson learned! I LOVE this story, and Mira’s pictures…GORGEOUS! I hope you check out this book and her illustrations.

My grandsons (8 and 10) both injoyed this story. It has a good lesson regarding waiting and it was easy to talk about the sounds of SH and CH.

Great American Indian story for kids. I gave many as gifts.

Great introduction to myths, legends, and Native American storytelling. This is appropriate for even very young children. The classic lesson of learning to wait until you are ready for something can be enjoyed by adults with their children.

As a former preschool teacher, I have read and told this story to many children. They so easily relate to Baby Rattlesnake and his desire to have something that he is not old enough to be responsible with.
I have also recorded, in my own voice, this story for my granddaughters adding sound effects for Baby Rattlesnake's rattle. Wonderful Native American story.

Beautiful illustrations and original story. Not your typical happy ending. My son wanted me to read it over and over.
