I love this book. Rich, descriptive language (vocab-building for kids!) and the illustrations with their clues are so much fun. I love the surprise ending and the message I choose to take which is that sometimes perceived weaknesses can be strengths, and that you can't judge a toad by its warts. Long live the happy and carefree toad! I have searched multiple libraries for this over the past 10 years after seeing it in another state. So sad that it is out of print, but so glad to now have my own copy.

This is such a wonderful book filled with wonderful descriptions of icky gooey toad. Worm slurping toad. My granddaughters love hearing this and looking at the artwork which requires a keen eye to see the monster!! My four year old granddaughter has memorized it and reads it to herself! I wish they'd print it again!!

Vocabulary is great & pictures are fantastic! It should be in every teacher's classroom.. Children see the story develop through the art and connect it to the story.
