Not much of a story with this one, like many of Donald Crews books, but a gem of a book. My library is in Anacortes, Washington, a beautiful town surrounded by water and boats. I'll be adding this to the collection even though it's an older title.

The colors are muted, grayed-but that's not the only way Crews' new book differs from Freight Train, Truck, etc. For one thing, it's mostly an album of types of ships found in a harbor, each precisely rendered. The types are identified on a page of silhouetted "Ship Shapes" at the close-which the parent asked "what's this?" might have liked to know about at the beginning. The colors are muted, grayed-but that's not the only way Crews' new book differs from Freight Train, Truck, etc.

Wonderful book, with wonderful detail. Our son loves finding the different kinds of ships (and bridges and trucks)on each page. There is a fun tie-in with Mr. Crews great book _Truck_.

not as strong as other titles by crews. there are decent pictures, but the format is boring for my son.

This book is terrible, no story, just a bunch of terrible examples of commercial type vessels. I do not recommend this book

My 2-year nephew loves all the Donald Crews books. They're great particularlry if you live near the water.
Ricep
My two year old granddaughter loved this book. The illustrations are superb and she loved the story behind it. We talked about the different types of weather, the need for sails or not and the safety of the harbor. She made up her own little stories which naturally included what they would eat on board! A delightful book.

If you look carefully, you can find the truck from his book, TRUCK, in this book. Also keep an eye out, each of Donald Crews' books has the date he finished it hidden somewhere within the book. Also, you can find several familiar female names on the boats if you've read other books of his.
