My son loves this story. But I did not realize when I purchased it that it was the board book version. This version is not the full story. It is an abridged version. I wish I had realized that before purchasing.

A great book for a kid who loves trains! There are lots of details about trains and pictures of bridges and tunnels (the best!) It's very simple and straightforward with this information - not really a story but a series of scenes and for my 3-year-old, who really loves to point and this and that in books right now, it is perfect! Wonderful art and charming detail. I love it.

The Little Train (board book version) has been a hit with our son since he was 6 months old. At 11 months, he started referring to any train he saw as, "huff! huff! huff!" thanks to this book. The Lois Lenski illustrations are second to none, and the colorful pictures keep our son engaged. Our son has yet to graduate to the hardcover version (which is apparently longer and more involving), and despite negative comments against the board book version I've read, I have to say that its shorter length is about all our 17 month old has the patience for... plus, he likes to rip paper pages, so the board book version has been perfect so far. This is one of our son's favorite of the "Small/Little" series of board books. Also recommended: "Policeman Small," The Little Fire Engine" and "Cowboy Small."

My two-year-old and I both love this book - it's just the right combination of simple and detailed! Highly recommended.

A great classic tale for little ones. The hard board books are so great for them to read and look through all by themselves. This book was a gift for my grandson. He has enjoyed it and, with the durability, can pass it down to the next little person who loves trains. It came in great condition and quickly. I Highly recommend this book for toddlers and younger little ones. A great book to start your children's home library.
Amazon had the best price and I love the great service and prime benefits with Amazon.

My 22 month son loves this book so much. When we first got it (about 2 months ago) I had to summarize some of the longer pages to keep his attention, but now he wants to listen to every word... even though it's not what I consider an exciting or entertaining story. However, the pictures are charming so I don't mind top much when we read it 6 times in a row.

I like most of her books but my son doesn't really like this one. The colors are NOT like the other books. I suggest the airplane one instead.
As Grandmother to a 2 year old who delights in all things train, this book is one of our favorites. Lots to focus on for multiple reads with good story and images.
