Usborne Aesop's Fables One of my favourite story books. I used to read these stories when I was child and am happy to be reading them once again to my children.

I used to read these stories when I was child and am happy to be reading them once again to my children. Best read-aloud book in our collection This is by far the best read-aloud book our family has purchased. The wording is smooth, with a vocabulary slightly above my 6-year old's level, but with enough context for her to understand, and plenty of room for her to grow.

This book has beautiful illustrations and some words that help stretch my 6- and 8-year olds’ vocabulary. We are enjoying it.

I enjoyed these stories as a kid and now my children are enjoying them as well. My memory isnt as good as it could be but these seem a little less, I guess you could call it graphic. Which is a bonus for me.

I bought this book for my daughter because I grew up with these stories and I wanted my daughter to read them too. She loves the simple stories with a moral at the end. She often relates the morals to her own life and things she does. She will ask for many of the stories by name and will even tell us the stories in her abbreviated form. I'm really glad I bought this book for her.

I simply love this book! It's really an easy-read. Colorful Illustration. Short stories to captivate children until they get used to reading longer and longer stories.

I know there are tons more stories out there for Aesop's Fables other than the popular ones featured on this one, and I wish they'd make a whole collection of those, too, I would buy them for sure!

Also, as everyone knows, most children's stories were originally spun out of dark gloomy stories or myths that were aimed for adults rather than children from old times (such as Andersen stories or Greek Myth or what not). So even if I try to find a good Andersen story book for children, it does have some gruesome bits (like Hensel Gretel putting witch in the stove or what not...). I never really paid much attention to that when I read them when I was a kid actually, but now that I'm a parent, I'm wondering if it would bother my child or she'd just completely ignore that aspect like I did as a child.

But unlike those tales, Aesop's Fables are all nice stories, there are outwitted fox and rabbits for being too arrogant or playing tricks too much or what not, but not a gruesome ending for the real villain.
Great book, easy to read and the kids love it. My 6 year old can read the fables to her brother and it's nice to be able to read the classic fables.
