This was a wonderful book about feelings and family. I enjoyed the chapter Yidda Yadda wondering what little Josh was talking about. It broke my heart reading about Brad's death in a Steaming Bowl of Sadness.

I heard Ralph Fletcher speak at a reading conference at which he read and excerpt from Fig Pudding. The chapter entitled The Tackle Box can be enjoyed with or without reading the entire book; it's especially great for boys who love to fish! They'll get it. This is a story about a family that ends with the family tradition of bringing Fig Pudding to the annual Christmas gathering - and then something surprising happens.

Amazing book. Bawled my eyes out more than once. My 3rd-6th graders are loving it so far. Such a realistic take on family life.

My daughter read this so she could watch the movie. She loves it. She's 9 years old and it's really age appropriate.

This is a really wonderful book full of great characters and very careful, serious, personal monologues from the main character. You (and/or your kids) will absolutely love this book.

One thing to note: if you buy the e-book version of this text, it is missing an obnoxious amount of punctuation. It's not difficult to figure it out, but someone clearly wasn't sufficiently careful when transcribing the initial text into the electronic version. I read it on my kindle and still loved it, but I wish someone had mentioned the distinct lack of punctuation.

What a wonderful story! Completely enchanting, although the story is very sad at one point.

This is my favorite children's book and I wish it would be made into a movie! It's a must read!!
I won't tell you why, but you will cry. You can't help it. I tried really hard not to. You still will. Unless you're heartless.
