Loved this book as a child 50 years ago! Great moral for children and simple to understand. It's stuck with me for 54 years!!

While the language is simple, this delightful story within a story is compelling and fun. Early readers will enjoy the high-interest story, and the illustrations beautifully communicate aspects of the story in a visual way. This author/artist team is the same one responsible for the wonderful "Little Bear" books. If you're looking for something that celebrates childhood from the perspective of a child, this is a great start.
