This was a very helpful tool and getting my 4 year old to understand bed time. There were a couple of parts we edited while reading. When the main character cries at his parents door, we don't say he cries. We feel it would give her the wrong idea.

This book is enjoyable, but it doesn't actually teach any tools to kids on how or why they should stay in their own beds. It just basically says "do it" and then the kid does it, even though he doesn't want to. It commiserates with the child that wants to sleep with mom and dad, but doesn't actually offer any help.

And...success! Our son sleeps in his own big boy bed now, and this book was very helpful in making that happen. He still talks about how the book made him decide to go to bed in his bed on his own. Of course, it's not a miracle book, it took a few nights. But I recommend this book to parents who are wanting to transition from co-sleeping to separate beds.

This book was very helpful in transitioning my 3 year old into her own bed, after co sleeping with us since she was born. I read this to her every night for a week in her new bed, and she absolutely loved it! I love how they show everyone in the house sleeping in their own bed at night.

While the story is fine, and appropriate for trying to get young ones, like my 3 year old, to understand that everyone has a designated spot to sleep, I felt that it falls short of being convincing enough to really get her to sleep in her own bed. I felt like it was just another book, really. But a decent one.

My daughter moved to her "big girl" bed over a year ago with very little problem. Following birth of our 2nd, she began coming to our. Room to "snuggle" b/c she missed us. This book illustrates that everyone has their own space to sleep, including animals. After a few weeks and a sticker in the morning for staying in bed all night, I think we're back on track.

We were stuck in the "sleep with me" trap with our 2-year old. She didn't have a problem sleeping in a "big-girl" bed but sleeping without one of us until she fell asleep. I was searching for a book that highlighted that aspect and this book was great! From the first night, she's stayed in bed with her dolly and not come in asking for one of us to come sleep with her. She even asks for us to read this specific book to her each night. I would highly recommend this book!
I liked the book and my 3 year old daughter likes it too, however it is a bit complicated for children this age
