My mom got diagnosed with diabetes when she was pregnant. I interviewed my mom and myself. I got diagnosed with diabetes when i was eleven years old. Judy Lajoie's book is a must have for any parent, not just those whose children have diabetes. The book clearly shows the pitfalls and dangers that are present for all parents in today's society. The temptation to give in to our children and indulge them has a number of very clear consequences which the author demonstrates. The story is appealing to children with morals that can be easily discerned. The artwork is adorable and endearing. The book will work well at home or in the classroom. A worthy purchase.

Here is a book worthy of sitting in any pediatrician's waiting room and school nurse's office. The author has significant experience in diabetes treatment as well as being a mother, and she pulls equal amounts from both of those parts of her life to create not just a well-informed story, but a warm one as well. She treats the characters in a straightforward manner, and she avoids putting emphasis on any one factor in order to give as much information as she can. The author's presentation of the story is best exemplified in the doctor's character. She sits you down, comforts you with a heartfelt smile, and tells you she is here to help.
