This is a 1993 release by E.P. Dutton & Company and one of a number of books in this series where the stories of Christopher, Pooh and the whole quirky little group are broken down; one story per book. More of that later.

This particular little book contains the story "In Which Pooh and Piglet go hunting and nearly catch a Woozle. This little tale will be very familiar to fans of Winnie-the-Pooh, the creation of A.A. Milne which was first published in 1926. The publishers have used the original work of Ernest H. Shepard and the illustrations here run true to form.

Pooh finds some tracks in the snow and starts to follow them; around a bush. He is joined by piglet who observes Pooh tracking this strange animal. Pooh feels it quite well be a Woozle! Oh my! As the two friends track this critter, around and around the bush, they find more tracks of other Woozles and then the tracks of yet another strange and unknown animal. We find toward the end of the story that Christopher Robin has been setting in a tree watching the two mighty hunters and when he comes down, he sets all right.

I love Pooh stories. Milne's word play is of the sort I can read over and over again and enjoy it as much the tenth time as I did the first. The logic of Pooh is simply hilarious. Winnie-the Pooh stories that can be enjoyed, at different levels, by both young and old alike and are as popular today as when they were first published. One need only take a look at the numerous and repeated republications of this story to appreciate their longevity and appeal to generation after generation of children and adults.

I like these little books. I grant you that a large book with the complete Pooh works in it is a nice thing to have, but these little books make for great and quick bed-time reads and when they are finished, they are finished and you don't have to explain why you must stop reading for the night because it is clear to the child that the book has ended.

A lovely read! It is interesting to see how Milne's work differs from the most famous adaption. How he gives his characters such specific traits and personalities in a manner that stands out in a couple of pages is outstanding. As well, the illustrations by Shepard add a touch that make the short story stand out the more.

I understood it might have some wear and tear from usage or writing or stickers on it, but I would not have purchased it if it had said "Half of the Front Cover is Missing". The title is missing and the first slider is missing. I don't think the description suited the reality of the product.
