I purchased this book for my grandson prior to our trip to the Galápagos. This is a beautifully illustrated and delightfully written book about a tortoise found on one of the Galápagos Islands which ultimately was found to be the last of his species. His story is a wonderful way to introduce the younger generation to the importance of conservation. It certainly made our visit to the Charles Darwin Research Station much more meaningful!
A really neat story about a special tortoise. The illustrations are great and story is wonderful. My grandson managed to stay away from his video games long enough to read this book and has come back to it again and again
Bought this for my grandchildren, when I read the book loved it. It gave some of the background of Lonesome George which I found to be very interesting. Hopefully they will enjoy this book as well.
My grandson (age 6) absolutely loved it!
An amazing story by an amazing author. We lost Jean Craighead George too soon at age 90. I wish there were 90 more years of her stories to enjoy.
Especially good for children going to the Galapagos or learning about it.
I recently got back from Galapagos and bought this book for my 8 year old grandson. He already knew about Lonesome George, but he loved the book.
Love this author! She writes the best kids books and as an adult, I love them too.
