In my opinion the Expanded Edition of the Ryrie Study Bible, bound in genuine leather, produced in 1994 (KJV), and 1995 (NASB), is the absolute best example of this Bible ever produced by Moody! The high quality of the materials they used, coupled with high quality construction methods they applied, along with the new fonts, the wider margins (especially at the gutter), and the additional reference information, has resulted in a more informative, more durable, more readable, more usable, and higher quality Bible, all at a very reasonable price!

My first Ryrie was a black genuine cowhide NASB version, purchased from a local bookstore back in 1978. It was used, and abused, for close to 25 years! It's full of hand-written notes, both my own and others', and is even inscribed by Mr. Ryrie himself! It's beat, but it's a keeper. However, as the first two pages of Ephesians had become "loose-leafed," and the cover had started to tear a wee bit at the hinges (I'm not kidding when I say it was beat, it was used up!), I decided to replace it with a 1995 NASB Expanded Edition, bound in genuine Burgundy leather. I purchased it brand new from Amazon back in 2001, and it has held up quite well over the years!

It's a shame that Moody Publishing had to cut some corners on the latest versions of these study Bibles, presumably to keep prices in check. Unfortunately, they seem to have apparently regressed somewhat from what they used to be as regards quality and, with the new page layout, usability as well! Hopefully, the economy will recover to the point where Moody will be able go back to providing the same high quality Bibles that they did back in the '90s, and at a reasonable price.

In the meantime, though, if you see an Expanded Edition of the Ryrie Study Bible from the '90s being offered for sale, and it's bound in genuine leather, and the seller isn't asking an arm and a leg for it (especially for one in new condition), my advice to you would be to grab it quickly before somebody else does! Seriously!! In my considerably not-so-unbiased opinion, you'll be really glad you did.

I really like this Ryrie Study Bible. I now understand why it is such a popular Study Bible. I am very comfortable with the wording of the NAS Version. The study notes are amazing and expands your knowledge of key areas of the Bible.

This is a perfect companion to the Old Scofield Study Bible (KJV)! While Ryrie has considerably more notes than the Scofield Bible, Scofield's notes and paragraph headings are generally a little better. I strongly recommend getting both the NAS Ryrie Study Bible (Make sure you get a genuine leather one! I ordered one from Amazon that I thought would be real leather, and it was bonded leather when I got it. The bonded leather edition of this Bible is VERY poor quality! The leather one is nice...) AND the Old Scofield Study Bible. They compliment each other extremely well. The two have worked miracles in my Bible Study, and have greatly deepened my relationship with God. And, the NASB and KJV Bibles are two of the best translations for serious Bible students. Of course there is much debate over which translation is better. I choose not to participate in these debates... Enjoy!

I'm very impressed with this study Bible. The notes offer clear and relevant explanations of history, culture, and language that are important for understanding the scripture. The charts, maps, and chapter introductions are also extremely helpful. The binding on this hardcover book is strong and sturdy, and the font is easy to read. The only thing I would wish for would be indexed chapters so that I wouldn't have to hunt for each chapter. Overall, this study Bible is the best I could find and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for an affordable and relevant study Bible.

This is a wonderful study Bible and the study notes are expanded and improved. Charles Ryrie's excellent notes are clear and understandable, and reflect a premillennial dispensationalist interpretation of prophecy and the end-times. What I also like are the in-text maps which are helpful when reading the historical/ narrative books, and helpful charts / feature articles which explain key biblical terms. One of the most helpful sections are the study helps in the back, with a Survey of Christian Doctrine and a Brief Survey of Church History. The Bible also has an excellent concordance and colorful maps of high quality. I highly recommend this study Bible and have used it for many years!

I really like the additional references that are in this Bible. The maps, red text, and many notes and timelines are very helpful in my Bible reading.
