This only contains Bishop Hall's contemplations up to the prophet Elisha. It is not the complete work as it is represented to be. I got ripped off, do not buy this kindle book. Also there is no table of contents. Altogether a great work of thievery. I have the hardbound work, and love it dearly, how wonderful it would have been to have it in this format!

Bishop Hall was a court preacher in the court of James I of England. He was also one of the few Puritans opposed to the execution of Charles I. His contemplations are a series of meditations on historical passages of the Bible. He makes an application on almost every event. His writings have popular in past centuries. The nineteenth century preacher, Charles H. Spurgeon, loved to quote from Hall. Hall's book is great for one who desires to see the usefulness of the historical passages especially the obscure ones.
