I thoroughly enjoyed this book from cover to cover! I simply couldn't put it down. In fact, I started reading it when I was in early labor with my first child in an attempt to keep my mind off the labor. I ended up reading the entire book while my labor was stalled, finishing it before my baby was born! The characters were believable, and I couldn't help falling in love with them. I highly recommend this book! I went out and bought the sequels and had read them all over the next couple of weeks.

I am LDS; however, I don't care for all fiction books written by LDS authors because they often put their own views on how they see the Gospel working in our lives and I don't always agree with them. However, I have to remind myself that this is their story and so they are free to put what they want in it..and it's fiction. I have learned which authors to avoid and which I like. Please don't judge the religion by stories like these...each one of us is of infinite worth, regardless of our religion, and all the good we do does count.
(Note: I do like some of her other books, one character I find quirky and fun to read about.)

The story was mechanical and predictable. I wanted to put the book down page 30. Why should I feel sorry for someone who doesn't understand that death happens? You just pick yourself up and act responsibly. Bad choices lead to bad results.

I gave this book a chance knowing that it had LDS missionaries in it. I had no idea how much the LDS religion would be shoved down my throat. The story basically told me that without the LDS's God in my life, all postive action is worthless. Since I'm not a member of the LDS church, this proselytizing made it hard to enjoy the story.
