Judy Baer writes great life stories. This story is real life, as people we all struggle with life, relationships, work, wants, needs, and desires. How we learn and who we lean on, will make our life either a pleasant daily walk or a controlled struggle. This story is a great example! Enjoy it. I did!

I really, really like Will! He gave up a good job and a good life to take in his nephew after his sister died. He was such a strong Christian with great morals and deserved to find a woman that could marry him and have a dozen children with him! I admired him for the way he stood up to his brother and sister-in-law, and I'm happy with the results of the talk he had with his brother.

Catherine...Well, she was living in some weird dream world. I really liked her most of the time, and I liked how nicely she treated Will and his nephew. But I think she was a very selfish person. It seemed she was always focusing on herself through most of the book - until Will got really, really mad at her for something that wasn't even her fault...She straightened up a bit after that.

Frankly, I did not understand her reasoning for not taking the case. I know what she went through was rough, but she was good at it and shouldn't give it up. If she truly loved Will and his nephew, she wouldn't have hesitated to help. I was just very, very bothered with her whole anti-lawyer attitude just because she mess up one time! I saw this very, very selfish on her part.

Still, the book was very interesting and kept me wanting to read, so it deserves four stars. I took away a star because of Catherine and her attitude.

Catherine Stanhope has quit her lucrative and prestigious job at a big law firm. She had won a crucial custody case but is distressed that her hard work may not have resulted in the best situation for the child.

She plans to go to a small town in Minnesota, to her grandmother who raised her. She knows her grandmother will help her make the decisions about her future in law.

But by the time she has made all the arrangements, her grandmother has died. When Catherine arrives she finds Will Tanner had been hired by her grandmother and is the midst of restoring the family home. This causes a problem with her plans to sell the historic house and move on with her life. And then there is her growing attraction to Will.

There is a discussion guide at the end so this would make a suitable book for a reading group.

It's a simple plot but Baer manages to make it last over 200 pages. The action and characters are well done. It was a nice and relaxing late night read.

Wow, what a completely amazing story. I enjoyed reading this book so much. The story was about a woman who quit a high paying job to come "home" to take care of things after her grandmother passed away. She had no intentions of staying there or falling in love. I highly recommend this story to anybody who loves a heart warming story!

This is a light read but borders on fantasy. Catherine lived a very fairy tale life. I like books with a little more reality but if you want something light, this might be the book for you. bj
