Winter is not forever. What are you gonna do after graduation?" Everybody's been askin' me that question. This book is the third in the seasonn's of the Heart series, which follows the main character Josh Jones from age 9 through his 20's and is set in the late 1800's and early 1900's- the entire series is wonderful! I like the realistic look at family life during this time period in history- it's filled with a lot of sorrows and set-backs, but also with hope and with a lot of life lessons.

I am so in love with Janette Oke's books. This book, Winter is Not Forever, let's me experience how harsh some winters can be. And being from the South, I so enjoyed her description of the snow and cold. How cozy the kitchen was, warm and friendly with loved ones, coffee brewing on the stove.

Janette Oke, recipient of the 1992 ECPA President's Award and the 1999 CBA Life Impact Award for her significant contribution to the Christian book industry, has also won both the Gold Medallion Award and the Christy Award for fiction. Her novels have sold nearly 30 million copies. Janette and her husband, Edward, live in Alberta, Canada.

My review is not only for this particular book, but for the whole series of four books. You really should read the series from the beginning so that you can learn how people grow and live from the start of the story. This is one of my favorite reads EVER, and I've read a lot of books. The characters are extremely likable, except for the ones who aren't supposed to be. The setting is a slow-paced rural area, back in the earlier days, where everyone knows everyone else. The story starts out with the narrator as a boy, and takes him through his teen years into young manhood. It is a Christian tale, but that doesn't mean the characters are sterile or dull--they have questions, they have rebellions. Bad things happen, just as in real life. I really like these books--while I've been reading them I keep thinking I'd love to see them as a well-done movie or mini-series. I am going to be so sad to be done reading them, it will be like a really good friend has moved away.

Well written and told story. This is the final "season" and it wrapped things up. I wish there were more to the story; however, I so thoroughly enjoyed the series and the ending that I'm quite happy to have it 'all wrapped up'. As usual, I picked up lots of nuggets of wisdom in reading this book. So much to enjoy and to learn about life. Thanks Janette! (I feel I can refer to her on first name basis since I've read so many of her books. She fits in the category of friend and mentor.)

Janette Oke writes book is series. This book is part of a series of a young man who never knew his parents. He is raised by his elder sister, Grandfather and Grandfather. This is the middle book of the series telling how a young man makes his world in a small town with the support of his family and without parents. .

The continuation of the trials and triumphs of josh and his family are a very enjoyable read. I would finsih one book and immediately start the next. I usually try to read at night to go to sleep, but these have been resposible keeping me reading until 1 or 2 in the morning. I enjoyed this book as much as her others in this series. Janette Oke never disappoints.

I am so in love with Janette Oke's books. So hard to put down. This book, Winter is Not Forever, let's me experience how harsh some winters can be. And being from the South, I so enjoyed her description of the snow and cold. How cozy the kitchen was, warm and friendly with loved ones, coffee brewing on the stove. I just sat right down in a chair with them. I could see each face and personality in this story. But, most of all, how she taught that we must let go of things that hinder his work in us so that we can grow and love as we are loved. I love all of her books and you will to. Brew a cup of coffee first or cup of tea. Enjoy!
A detailed, carefully written book. This was book 4 in a set. Read them for a relaxing experience. This set of books follows the lives of people in a farming community just like the lives of real people from that era.
