New Yorker Sadie Maddox is the toast of the classical-music world-and a bit of a diva. But lately her CD sales are sagging, not to mention parts of her anatomy. Maybe it's time for a change. So when her agent suggests a professorship at a small liberal-arts college, Sadie decides to give it a go. Besides, she needs the money.

But the college is in rural Iowa. Sadie's colleagues are intimidated, her students aren't impressed, and she has to live far too close to farm animals. When Sadie meets Mac, a veterinarian, she assumes they have nothing in common-he is, after all, a country-music fan-and she's counting the days until she moves back to New York. Yet, when Sadie is forced to spend time with Mac, she likes him. Her students really need her. And this quiet midwest community begins to grow on her.

But when the semester ends, Sadie packs up and decamps for the city that never sleeps and finds she can't either. Will she find the courage and grace she needs to embrace her Act Two?

It was engaging and a quick read. I didn't expect a "christian" book and could have done without the praying but at least she didn't quote scripture until the end. A lot of reviews talked about how funny it was and I don't get that but it was enjoyable.

I noticed that this book is being sold for the lowest price on Amazon right now and had to put in my plug. I love all of KS's books, but this one is definitely my favorite.

As a singer myself, the story was quite believable. I think the thing that made it my favorite was the family in Iowa who hosted the main character - especially the kids. So true to life and so beautifully funny. I got the most into the love story (definitely not the main focus of this or any of her novels), in this one, also....I think because of how antagonistically the relationship began; yet the heroine in this one really changed and grew.

Just thoroughly enjoyable and entertaining for me.

I loved the idea for this book. What would you do to save your career? You think it will be a miserable choice for Sadie to move to a small town in Iowa to work as a guest professor. She discovers what is most important to her and it wasn't what she thought at all. Such a good read.

I truly enjoyed this story - none of the sex, violence or foul language of many modern love stories. It is a story of fame that dwindles and fortunately the famous one discovers what really counts in life.

I never heard of this author before but I will look for her books now. I love clean love stories and this one fits the bill.
