We have examined three modes of mission in Scripture. These are not three different paths of doing mission, as if you could do one and not the other. Let's apply them to today's churches. They are often inwardly focused and lack a passion for sentness, hence the growing movement to help established churches be more missional. New churches often lack a Petrine mode of mission. Thus, there are three modes, but they need to work together for fully-orbed mission.

This book reverses the drift away from theology into pragmatics, without denying the importance of a dynamic methodology that responds to changing conditions. Regular snapshots of missionary life as it is being or has been played out in real situations ground the whole book in reality.

Wright's book is an outstanding missions resource. He addresses a host of issues that are relevant especially to those who are preparing to go overseas and those who are training future missionaries. I especially like this book as it holds the sending church and mission teams in high regard. Another great thing about this book is that the chapters are concise and more accessible to those who find themselves busy with life and ministry.
