Point: Dengler shares the life of poetess and hymn-writer Fanny Crosby in story format, showing how God used her life in spite of her accidental blindness caused by a doctor's mistake in her childhood.

Thoughts: As interesting as the accomplishments of Fanny Crosby are, I think that the author of this book somewhat missed the point. We sing many of Crosby's hymns today and appreciate them, so it is good to know the story behind some of them. While I found this helpful, it seems as if the book spends much more time making Fanny Crosby sound amazing rather than bringing honor to the One who is actually behind her prolific song-writing abilities.

Personal App: Do I take time to really listen and smell and observe the world around me, enjoying God's creation?

It is a good story to read, but I am not sure that I would read it repeatedly. There's probably a better one out there.
