More by Wanda C. Easy Grammar: Adverbs. I purchased this book for homeschooling my 6th grader. I love the unique approach to focus on the prepositional phrase in the sentence. My Mother Doesn't Like to Cook. My child enjoys working on it. A lot of drill works, but by the time when students finish this book, they will have a very solid understanding on English grammar. It gives the instructional guide and the answer keys.

We're about a quarter of the way through the book. I'm using it with a student with dyslexia & dysgraphia. He was in public school 3/4 of the way through 3rd grade before I pulled him out to homeschool to work more on the dysgraphia. He had not had exposure to a formal grammar curriculum before starting this program. It's completely "open and go". No need for any teacher outside time. Your student may need you to go over the directions/instructions with them (mine does at least once) but it's written to be used even without a teacher.

My student doesn't love the workbook but I'm not sure there is a true grammar curriculum out there that he would love. I'm happy with how comprehensive it seems. I feel like after we finish this workbook he'll have a good foundation of grammar. After completing this, I'm planning to move onto the company's Daily Gram set and do that for a year or two to keep up the grammar work but not to spend as much time re-teaching.
I used this with my 3rd grader at home to study grammar.

It felt slow at first because the lessons are very repetitive. But, after a few weeks, I realized that the information is actually sticking to us (both me and my child). It does not rush through like many books (today verbs, tomorrow nouns), but it really takes a lot of mini-steps and builds up very well. New information builds on top of the mastered information, so you don't forget the old lessons.

The amount of work can be as short as 5 practice sentences or as long as 15 or 20 practice sentences. Because the lessons are each pretty short, you can make it a daily habit to work on it.

My 3rd grader never complains about doing these work. She says, "Oh, good. It's like the one I did yesterday." She can now identify subject (noun), object, prepositional phrases, verbs, linking verbs, and some helping verbs, and some other grammatical functions pretty well. This is after working on this book for 4 months.

Very pleased.
perfect start for easy learning of grammar-pretty easy for child to handle by them selves-easy teacher prep and teaching. We have used many grammar programs for home school--this one works the best for us--my older kids have retained the important parts
I love this product. I use it as bell work and take home. My class did well on the grammar portion of the end-of-the-year, I believe, because of the consistency of these books. There is a mini-lesson you teach when you come to a new topic, and then make sure the children understand the new topic by doing the first lesson in that section. After that, you pair them or have them work individually. I like how it spirals and covers, so much information about grammar. It sets the students up to be better writers. I use this with my adult ESL students.
Our yearly independent testing professional asked what Grammar curriculum we used after our children had made several year jumps in this category. In 7th grade, one child is now at grade 18+ level (meaning after 4 years of college) for this subject. Very impressive curriculum. The teaching is very easy as well. The author makes it quite simple to refer back to her Teacher's manual -- which is identical to the workbook except all of the answers are filled in correctly. The workbook and teacher's manual contain very explicit instructions for the teacher and the student. It explains very well each step of the way -- identifying and building on knowledge. It takes time to first teach prepositions and finally teaches the easier of the subject like capitalization and punctuation.
I was told by the company to put my child into the age appropriate grade level for the book. So, if you are homeschooling and are having trouble deciding what book would be suitable, this would be the best advice. It was for us. Each subsequent year will teach the same items; however, it will use more age appropriate language for the grade level of the child. Then year after year, move onto the next level to reinforce the grammar skills.
After waffling between several types of curricula, I will not go back to any other book other than Easy Grammar. It has been immensely helpful for us.
I bought this for my 6th grade home school daughter and it is great! I bought the teacher's edition and it tells me how to teach her the lesson and has the answers. I just tear out the pages for my daughter and give her the work to do. The lesson plan goes in a nice easy to follow order. It is a thick book too. My only neg is the pages are hard to tear out. Good buy!
Always love the Easy Grammar! I have been homeschooling for 15 years and this book has never failed us! Very simple and effective way to learn grammar! My kids, regardless of their varied personalities and learning styles, all do great with these books!
As the author wrote in the introduction, it is not "dummy"book, but rather a step by step workbook for someone who needs help to understand English sentence analysis. Very unique approach to emphasize "Preposition as a key to simplify the sentence analysis". A lot of drills to follow, so depending on your student's ability, you need to reduce the amount of drills, otherwise, it can be boring. I bought the Student workbook together with this book for my homeschooling. Easy instruction for my child to follow by herself. The assessment test in the beginning is very complete to see where your student stands.
