It's not in a true kindle version, more like a PDF. And the enhanced version is not available for Android devices. And don't think you'll read it on your laptop, because it's not available on the PC reader either. Horrible. Take a look at the screenshot. You can zoom in, but it's a real pain to read. I guess this is to force you to buy an overpriced book for a required class.
Really disappointed with Amazon rental this time. The state of the book is bad. I'm sure the content is great but the cover is worn out and gross. The inside pages are okay but I see bits of who-knows-what in between pages. I don't know how I'm supposed to focus on reading the textbook when the textbook itself is nasty. Please rent books that are at least satisfactory. Please and thank you
Long book with great details about teacher and student relationships
Nicely written and well organized. Liberal use of practical methods and examples make this a textbook that translates easily into real-world classroom application. So the book does an excellent job of both explaining theory and plainly describing how that theory can be used. Application ideas are broken down by developmental level, and there are numerous recommendations for appropriately operating in a multi-cultural environment. Assignments aside, I've enjoyed reading this book for its own sake.
When you're not sure about what teaching is all about, this is a great reference with everything from students with exceptional to classroom leadership. Some of the visuals are less than useful, and sometimes they seem to be overdoing political correctness, but it is overall a good, informative text. I read every chapter, but it is kind of big, though.
I am reading this text book in my 400 level Educational Psychology class at The University of Tennessee. The textbooks vignettes are very interesting and applicable and help the reader better put into perspective and practice the theories and strategies. However, sometimes the way the authors choose to organize the parts of the theories can be difficult to interpret or wrap your mind around. I am very thankful that my professor is very equipped to explain when this text becomes a bit complicated. Overall, I recommend it because it explicitly describes and explains the parts of the theories well with excellent, applicable anecdotes. However, when considering this text for such a class be prepared for bits of confusion from your students; but, just be willing to better explain the overarching concept and organization.
Love this book
Great book that offers a variety of theories of child's development. It contains many examples the help understand the various concepts and great ideas for practice.
