This book is separated into two different parts: Part 1 is All About Menus and Choice and Part 2 is The Menus. Part 1 discusses the importance of choice, how to use menus in the classroom, guidelines for products and rubrics.

Differentiating Instruction with Menus: Math (Grades 6-8). It is not that teachers or curriculum writers can not create these menus themselves, but since there just isn't always enough time, these books are designed to be ready to use. Menus are appropriate for all grade levels and areas of instruction. If you try a menu of your own design, or one from my books and it isn't everything you hoped it would be - please contact me! Addressing the four main subject areas (language arts, math, science, and social studies) and the major concepts taught within these areas, these books provide a number of different types of menus that middle school students can use to select exciting products that they will develop so that teachers can assess what has been learned-versus using a traditional worksheet format. Each book contains attractive reproducible menus, each based on the levels of Bloom's Revised taxonomy, for students to use to guide themselves in making decisions as to which products they will develop after studying a major concept or unit. I purchased this book and used it to come up with a game to play with my students. I made a Bingo chart listing 25 activities for them to choose from to make a Bingo. Each line provided me with a sample of whether they understood the concepts being taught. The students liked the idea of choose which activities they would do to make the Bingo. Everyone is happy and life is easier. I teach Special Ed. 6-8

I have previously looked over the math version of this book, so I was familiar with some of the assignments, and the requirements. I like the way each assignment is explained in detail. The menus included are good, and can be used for a variety of different assignments. There are several menus included for specific novels that are commonly taught at the secondary level which I believe will be helpful to others. I look forward to using this in my middle school classroom.

This book offers a great way for teachers to differentiate their instruction to meet the needs of their students. Implementing diffentiated instruction takes time and practice, so it's great for teachers to have resources like this to go to for guidance. This book provides actual menus that teachers can immediately use, as well as ideas for tailoring menus in many different ways. I recommend this book for any educator that is looking for a way to implement choices in the classroom learning environment.

The menus in this book are definitely something that can be easily incorporated into school day as extra work or can be provided as a homework menu. Very practical!
