Let us note, however, that politically speaking, dumbness is an equal opportunity employer. In a way, it’s nice to see stupidity evenly distributed across the entire political experience. Which way you’re leaning can depend on what day it is and how many stories you read from this chapter.

In this sequel to the best-selling Uncle John’s Presents Book of the Dumb, guest author John Scalzi casts a wide net to bring readers more mind-boggling dumbosities perpetrated by dumb-doers. This time, to prove that dumb-nastics are not a modern phenomenon, Scalzi digs into the past to unearth some of history’s most ill-advised blunders. The lesson: Dumb is as dumb does. And you’ll be smarter for reading it. Read online.

This volume from Uncle John’s Bathroom Reader teaches us one valuable lesson: Never underestimate .

This volume from Uncle John’s Bathroom Reader teaches us one valuable lesson: Never underestimate the power of human stupidity. Since 1987, the Bathroom Readers’ Institute has led the movement to stand up for those who sit down and read in the bathroom (and everywhere else for that matter). With more than 11 million books in print, the Uncle John’s Bathroom Reader series is the longest-running, most popular series of its kind in the world

A celebration of dimwits, lunkheads, bad ideas and just plain wrongheaded foolishness. In every field of human endeavor, there are people, things, and ideas that rank among the best mankind has ever produced. This book isn't about any of that stuff. If there's one thing human history teaches us, over and over and over again, it's this: Never underestimate the power of human stupidity. Time and again, the human capacity to do really dumb things pops up in surprising and sometimes unusually inventive ways, and almost always catches those who do the dumb things by surprise. From crashed Mars landers to vegetable-flavored Jell-O to land wars during bitterly cold Russian winters, The Book of the Dumb chronicles some of the biggest moments in human folly in every field of human endeavor. Author John Scalzi (a frequent contributor to the Uncle John's Bathroom Reader series) takes the reader through the whole of recorded history, looking for the best examples of the worst ideas, regrettable utterances, and crackpot theories in the fields of arts, science, politics, sports, entertainment, and more.

As a long time "Uncle John" fan, I have not found a bad one yet. A veritable smorgasbord of information that should (but won't) warn people away from stupid behaviors. By selectively choosing your topics, anyone can feel superior to everyone for a while. It makes a great Christmas gift, mainly because it doesn't take up any room in the sleigh.

I am a fan of the Uncle John reader series. This book is an "Uncle John's Presents" title. The writing style is similar to the "1000 ways to die" television show, which I find to be crap. I left the book in the break-room at work in case someone else could tolerate it.

I was hugely disappointed with this Uncle John's offering and will most likely not purchase an "Uncle John Presents" book again.

While some of the happenstances were definitely noteworthy Dumb, most were just interpretations of the author's view of "dumb". I want fact, not commentary. I want to form my own opinion of whether something is dumb or not. I do not want to have some other guy's opinion of what is dumb shoved down my throat.

Although delegated to the bathroom of my house, as are all of the Uncle John's books, no one read past the first few entries.

Gee, and I thought I did some dumb things from time to time. But this books tells the reader of those who should have won thee "Golden Plunger (an Oscar) Award".

The topic is kind of overworked here. I guess if you like reading about people doing dumb things, its the right book for you! I thought I would, but it wears you down and you get the real impact of useless time spent

Entertaining, but not as entertaining as I'd hoped. A collection of true stories about crooks being incredibly
stupid.
