In most of the book’s crosswords many clues are some sort of irrelevant or incoherent pun or wordplay sentences, some ridiculously lengthy, while the small number of straight clues do not enable one even to start figuring out such meaningless sentences.

I bought this AARP book strictly because the first AARP crossword books claimed a crossword quality free from celebrities and other modern trivia and that a dictionary or other reference did cite each entry. But now this AARP-endorsed book is the exact opposite. For starters, 2 of its 50 crosswords are totally and offensively useless. One of them is missing 2 words in several answers while the other is missing 3 letters in several answers. Only 2 crosswords are truly excellent and another 8 are simply good, that's why I give this book 2 stars instead of 1. Twenty-two are merely half-way decent while the remaining 16 are full of allegedly modern trendy trivia and items of a special, rare, novel or unusual quality; obscure, non-existent and foreign words and clumsy, and even INCORRECT, clues and totally arbitrary abbreviations that exist only for the creator’s convenience. Many words are totally antiquated, practically never used today, the result of hasty Google-powered construction with little regard for accuracy and quality in general.

In most of the book’s crosswords many clues are some sort of irrelevant or incoherent pun or wordplay sentences, some ridiculously lengthy, while the small number of straight clues do not enable one even to start figuring out such meaningless sentences. Quite a lot of entries try to replicate not only everyday colloquial language, but urban slang, with some entries not even found in the Urban Dictionary, but they must exist in the creator’s mind! While the majority of the clues are pointless, most hinting at some character on a TV show, movie, play, novel, sports team, etc., and their relatives, or even their exes, it is the plethora of clumsily made-up, meaningless sentences that destine this book for the wastebasket. Unfortunately, this low crossword quality was found in every other book I bought published by Puzzle Wright Press, despite the misleading AARP endorsement.

Love these...Just the right amount of challenge...and yet not so much that I have to have the encyclopedia at my side.

I love the Sunday crosswords edited by Stanley Newman. I'm not into the New York Times crossword. Stanley Newman's are the best.

I love his editing. There is just the right amount of difficulty to make these puzzles enjoyable for someone like myself who has been doing crosswords for over forty-five years.

You won't be disappointed.

Thank you for prompt delivery. These are my favorite crossword. They are not too hard or too easy.

Having a crossword puzzle fan in the house made this a nice "little happy" to give for an occasional just-for event.
My favorite crosswords are the Sunday Chicago Tribune versions! This is a whole book of those puzzles. Like it so much, I ordered 2 more!!
