He eased through the door without waiting for an answer; MacKinnon was close behind hi. A clanging alarm sounded through the corridor. Magee went down fighting, but he was outclassed and caught off guard.

He eased through the door without waiting for an answer; MacKinnon was close behind him. The lighted corridor led away to the right and ended in a large double door to the street. On the left wall, near the street door, a smaller office door stood open. He jerked his head free and shouted, Run for it, kid!

Robert A. Heinlein The Past Through Tomorrow. The year is 1967, and in Carmel, California, a retired admiral named Robert A. Aside from his neighbors, his business associates and Navy friends, no one has ever heard of him. This is a likely story, but not true.

George Strong snorted at his partner’s declaration. Delos, why don’t you give up? You’ve been singing this tune for years. Maybe someday men will get to the Moon, though I doubt it. Delos, why don’t you give up? You’ve been singing this tune for years and I will never live to see it. The loss of the power satellite washes the matter up for our generation. D. Harriman grunted. We won’t see it if we sit on our fat behinds and don’t do anything to make it happen. But we can make it happen. Question number one: how? Question number two: why? . ‘Why?’.

A must have for R. Heinlein readers. Not only a number of stand alone stories and novelettes, but some backgrounders as well ( misfit & Methuselah's children ).
Book was more worn / damaged than stated by the seller (Mega Discount Store ). Also had two ( tracking / inventory control ) labels attached, one dead center of the front cover artwork. Neither could be removed without further damage.
Seller didn't follow through on remedial offer.

I have been a Robert Heinlein fan since I first read The Red Planet in 3rd Grade. Heinlein makes it easy to get to the main thought of his books, instead of being like most Authors who give many useless and unneeded trails to what seems to make a book longer, but doesn't mean anything at the end of a Book.

The book is used, looks used and all of its working parts are in order. The pages are yellowed and the spine slightly creased but the stories are just a fresh today as when I first read this book as a young teen. It is very fun to read about the contraptions Heinlein thought up 60-70 years ago that are common place today such as lights that turn on automatically as people enter and exit a room or time pieces kept accurate by radio (public television). A fun and well written series of short stories.

This was a replacement for my previous copy which has at last fallen to pieces. These are the "Future History" stories compiled in one place. 21 pieces, including the classics "Coventry," "The Green Hills of Earth," and the entire novel "Methuselah's Children," the first appearance of Lazarus Long. Great read, huge in paperback, a must-have for the Heinlein fan.

I first read this book back in the late 60's while in high school. I purchased it as a gift for my husband as he was a Heinlein fan but never read this one. I am convinced that Heinlein could see the future, especially with the persecution of the Howard families and the evil Prophet. Little things that are now today commonplace. And Lazarus Long is one of my favorite reoccuring characters. If you are just starting to read sci fi, I suggest you read this one first as it whets your appetite for more.

As advertised.
This book was bought to replace one that I bought and enjoyed a long time ago. I like Heinlein and had decided to re-read the book but could not do so because my old book fell apart when I attempted to read it. It was that old. So I ordered this one.
This publication had missing pages (Not the venders fault, but the fault of the publisher, BURKLEY PUBLISHING INC. AS WELL AS PAGES THAT COULD NOT BE READ BECAUSE OF VERY POOR PRINTING. It looks as if they had run out of ink.
I was going to return it but decided not to. 1) As stated above, not the venders fault.
2) Not worth the time and effort, not that much $$ involved. I did destroy the book.
