Jack and Jill lay silently watching, with a sweet sort of soberness in their young faces, and for a moment the room was very still as all eyes looked up at the Blessed Child. The sunshine seemed to grow more golden as it flickered on the little head, the flames glanced about the glittering tree as if trying to climb and kiss the baby feet, and, without, a chime of bells rang sweetly, calling people to hear again the lovely story of the life begun on Christmas Day. Only a minute, but it did them good, and presently, when the pleasant work was over, and the workers gone, the boys to church, and.

American novelist Louisa May Alcott best known for her novel Little Women and its follow up sequels Little Men and Jo's Boys. She based the characters in her novel on herself and her family. Where her heroin Jo was based on herself she never married. Growing up among many well know intellectuals of the day like Ralph Waldo Emerson.

Although this here Louisa May Alcott novel, although Jack and Jill is in many ways incredibly preachy and moralising, and definitely much more so than her Little Women, and although I always do tend to cry my eyes out at one particular part (even more so than when Beth dies in Little Women), I keep rereading and enjoying Jack and Jill.

Louisa May Alcott, more famously known for her Little Women series, takes a familiar nursery rhyme and creates a whole novel out of it in one of her last books Jack and Jill: A Village Story. Though she continued to publish under the penname AM Barnard, this book probably marked the end of a particular writing phase in 1880. Jack and Jill is set in the fictional Harmony Village. On a December afternoon, the youngsters of the village are out enjoying the bracing cold and snow. The bright winter shines down as they have fun skating and sledding.

This collection chronicles the fiction and non fiction classics by the greatest writers the world has ever known. The inclusion of both popular as well as overlooked pieces is pivotal to providing a broad and representative collection of classic works.

Yes, this is a book that tells the story of Jack and Jill to pre-teens, teens, etc, yet there is so much wisdom in this book. Although it is not my favorite Louisa May Alcott book, I did find it very inspiring when I read the book. It is well written and has much truth in this story of these two young people Jack and Jill.

It is also well formatted for the Kindle and I found it very easy to read on a seven inch and eight inch device as well.

This is a good read for young people or really for any age!

I listened to the book on Audible. I loved it the way I did when I was 8 years old. A classic. I would guess that young readers will find it too old fashioned.

Jack and Jill was another great book by Louisa May Alcott of the friendship between a young boy and girl. Although the beginning drags on a little, I'd say all in all a good read

I read this as a young child but have re-read it many times. It gets better with each reading. Recommend this highly for both young readers and adults also. It is a feel good book and we all need those sometimes.
Classic children's novel. Well worth reading again as an adult
