They should make a movie out of it! Although set in the late 20th century the story is timeless in human behavior. Romance, family reunion, intrigue, Francey in meeting the father idealized for all his 25 years of age sees himself become a millionnnaire overnight while inheriting from his father's deceased wife, meets two 12 brothers and makes a best friend in the person of a lead singer (introducing him to the pleasure of sex).
Never a dull moment- the characters become familiar from the first paragraph read, and never cease to surprise or touch us.
The descriptions of England and Ireland made me want to be there, to experience the culture myself- although this bucolic time is long past gone.
Francey is a story I will read again along the years, for it is an extraordinarily well written book.
