I love Patricia Scanlan and was so excited to get some new books of hers. Well this book is so short. I'd only been reading a couple of pages and realized I was at 20% completion on my Kindle. Yet the price was not really reduced. Total bummer! I had already bought another one too without realizing it. This should be in the description. It seems like a full book in the description.
Wonderful series of books with easy vocabulary for adults learning to read. They are written by famous Irish authors. There is some Irish slang but it is easy to figure out or look up on line. I am a volunteer literacy tutor and the students love these books. I've heard that some American writers are also beginning to write for new readers.
I was reading and enjoying the book.Suddenly it was over.I downloaded again and it was the same. Then I checked the product page to make sure and it is only 77 pages for 9.99$.Feels like an unfinished story as well.Do not buy it.
An unemployed printer has a wife and young child, and is desperate to find work in his field. He comes across an elderly woman who is being mugged by a drug addict who pushes her to the ground and runs off with her purse. Our hero pursues him, and manages to take back the woman's purse. He then returns to the scene of the crime, and accompanies the victim to the hospital where she is treated for her injuries. Now the victim's son appears, and [would you believe this?] just happens to own a printing firm and just happens to need someone to replace one of his printers who is retiring. Is it the karmic law at work here: what goes around comes around or no good deed goes unrewarded? Or maybe it's the invisible hand of God. Oh, please!!!
