We selected this book for our book club and I thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish! Don't let the length scare you off. It's a page turner and I snuck in a few more pages every chance I could throughout the day! I hated having to put it down! I truly grew to care about these characters and the challenges they faced in wanting to be together. This book had passion, excitement, suspense, joy, heartache and more. It's a great story and the descriptions of Scotland have made me add it to my list of places I want to visit someday. You'll feel like you've been swept away to another place as you read the story.

Now is an excellent time to read this book as the sequel is due to be released next month! I can't wait to read more about Annie and Andrew! I've already pre-ordered the sequel!

This book is full of cliches and unnecessary minutiae. The writing is that of a young teenage girl. When characters are sad, we don't need to know that the corners of their mouths turn down. The male characters are entirely unbelievable with all their sensitivity sharing as college students. Young males don't talk like that. When our main character arrives in Scotland, we are forced to read about every moment in her first few days, including pages on what she ordered to eat and a full conversation between her and the waitress as to how she took her coffee. Too much detail! Who cares! The last 100 pages are excruciatingly drawn out. The only reason I finished it was because it was under discussion at my book group.

I read When Europa Rode the Bull 2 years ago and have eagerly awaited the sequel. Barbara Berot has brought this story and its characters to life in this amazingly beautifully written novel. You will laugh, you will cry, you will stay up until all hours of the night reading this book. It is a romantic, heartwarming, heartwrenching, nail biting , can't put it down kind of book. The description of Scotland was fantastic and I felt like I was there. Her characters became so real I could not and have not stopped thinking about them even now. I am so excited to read the sequel and continue the story of Andrew & Annie.
This book has had such an fabulous impact on me as well as all of my friends who have read it. It is truly amazing that Barbara Berot, a first time novelist, has shared her talent with us, and I would like to thank her for many hours of enjoyment and many more to come.

I have to say I am really surprised so many people loved this book. I found it to be tedious and I had a very difficult time liking the characters. For Annie to be so 'strong' she sure lets herself be talked into a lot of things -- using drugs, having sex when she doesn't want to. I found her to be weak and unappealing. I also found it hard to believe that a 20 year old male would refrain from having sex with the woman he loves only to then get married and have sex with random other women. So he has all these high morals pre-marriage, then loses them upon saying 'I do'? The book is listed under 'Erotica'. I am a married woman with an active sex life and I did not find the sex scenes erotic at all. They were a detailed description of sex but a complete turn off. I am a voracious reader of all kinds of books and I struggled to finish this book. I can't think of any person I know to recommend it to. Not a beach read, there was no humor, no joy or fun in this book. Not worth the time it took to read it, sorry.

It's June. You need a summer read. What are you waiting for to purchase and pour over Europa? Exciting, fast-paced, and haunting, this book will have you hooked!! It's racy without being trashy. It races across continents without being a travelogue. It introduces you to characters you'll care about and wish you knew in "real life." It's one of those books that you truly hate to see end. Do yourself and favor and join the Europa fan club. Everyone at the beach will be reading it.
This is my first review because I enjoyed this book so much! I as well as my entire circle of friends just absolutely love this book!!!! I also recommended it to a reading group. When I talked to them I was told that they all loved the story. It is something different. It does not have you're usually love story lines that are predictable. It is something different and fresh.
Love story-- To be honest,I usually would have not have purchased this book on its title or cover. It did not look like a great love story title or cover to me. Don't judge a book by its cover. Why did I buy it? Beacause it came highly recommended to me by a friend and believe me I was not disappointed. It is fast reading and once you get into the story line you will not be able to put the book down. I could not sleep at night thinking of this story, that's how good it was!!!
The only problem with this book is-- as soon as you read it, you can't wait until your best friends read it- why?-because you are busting to talk about it. It appeals to all ages groups...It is on my best recommended love stories ever!!!! It is a good read and a great discussion book!
