The Life of Celine book. Besides Hewitt I'm a bit more than half through this biography of Celine. The Blackwell Lives series is uniformly good, not suberb, except for Pearsal's bio of Chaucer, which is excellent in every way.

Rather too short to be "definitive," whatever that may mean, but Hewitt does manage to convey a persona, a living presence, and so I don't have the sense that I'm reading through a concatenation of notes or the subject's engagement book.
