It's a world where only the strong survive and while Brianna is willing and capable, there's only so much she can do with what God gave her, so the men in the town sit and wait, waiting for that inevitable moment when she will falter.

I love Mary Wine for a fantastic Historical Romance that will make me long to be a personal part of the story . Let me start by saying that I liked this book very much. Firstly, I really appreciated that the book was historically authentic.

I love Mary Wine for a fantastic Historical Romance that will make me long to be a personal part of the story with her descriptive narration. My senses are as taut as a piano string waiting to be plucked as I turn page after wonderful page. Some may not understand why I stress this but characters that occur in books tend to stay with me.

His better judgment says to walk away. But after one stolen kiss, Sloan refuses to do anything of the sort. If she's going warm any man's bed, Brianna will marry him. However, Brianna wants more than his strong arm to back up her father's property. It's his love or nothing. Warning, this title is a Historical western, but still steamy with a good taste of sultry.

I've read a handful of books by Mary Wine, all of which were Scottish Romances. LET ME LOVE YOU actually takes place in the Wild West though, so I was excited to see what Ms. Wine was capable of in this era which is so different from her usual setting. Well, let me just say that I loved it and was hooked from the very first chapter!

I adored Brianna from the moment I met her. She was smart, strong, independent, and spunky. She's not afraid of hard work, is honest about her feelings and needs, and is a survivor. Sloan is a railroad agent and is a hard man who lives a hard life. He's immediately attracted to Brianna's fire and fiery spirit and she in turn is instantly attracted to Sloan and his strong male presence. He's domineering and demanding, but Brianna is drawn to those facets of his personality.

This is a hot, sexy romance and the love scenes are pretty darn spicy and explicit. It's not a sweet and mushy romance, but more deep and animalistic. Brianna has to face some harsh and brutal treatment from Joseph, a man who wants to marry her not only to take control of her property, but her body as well. And he'll do this by whatever means necessary; be it kidnapping, rape, or any other way his little mind can think of. By this time however, Sloan already considers Brianna "his" and Joseph never once counted on facing a man of Sloan's caliber.

The characters were all well developed, and Sloan was almost too sexy for my own peace of mind. I couldn't help thinking Brianna was an extremely lucky lady! The plot is pretty simple but also engaging and easy to follow. The writing was excellent and everything held true to the time and place in which it occurred. At around only 200 pages its a quick read and although not real long, it was great fun nonetheless. I would love for Sloan's fellow agents (Warren & Jed) to get their own stories some day and while I haven't seen anything, I'm still hoping =)

The Old West is a dangerous time and place to be female and alone, and not only is Brianna Spencer attempting it, she's succeeding. All she needs now is the money owed to her, and she will have made it-through one year, at least. That's why Sloan McAlister finds her on the docks, trying to collect on a debt owed to her. He rescues her from the lecherous advances of the town loser and right away, her spunkiness calls out to him. He might be one of the good guys, but the life he leads is in no way lawful or easy. He feels that he has no right to touch her or claim her, so he turns away, but it's only a matter of time before his heart and "other parts" lead him back to her.

This was a very sweet and sensual story. Mary Wine sprinkled about enough Old West charm to make this a very enjoyable story and an interesting little look into life in an old miner's town. It's charming and quaint, and also dirty, rough and brutal. It's a world where only the strong survive and while Brianna is willing and capable, there's only so much she can do with what God gave her, so the men in the town sit and wait, waiting for that inevitable moment when she will falter. Luckily for her, when one such loser does make his move, Sloan McAlister is there to save the day. This finally puts Brianna in his arms and now that he finally has her, well, his momma didn't raise a fool.

The sex in this book is not very explicit or kinky. Nor is it dirty or lewd. It was very sensual and loving and also very sweet. Sloan McAlister was the type of dream hunk who exists only in our fantasies. The type of big, strong and exciting alpha male who comes riding to our rescue dressed in a low slung Stetson and a black duster, while astride a great big stallion. *sigh* Droooooool.

I hope Mary Wine writes some sequels to this book because I would love to read about Sloan's fellow railroad agents. She teased me with just enough to make me want more. The plot in this book was simple, but had enough thrills to make this more than the usual romantica book. The villains in this book are disgusting and pathetic brutes and I loved it when Sloan put the fear of God into them. I highly recommend this as a sweet and sensual Western romance. :)

I have read several books by this author and I love her writing. Once I started reading this book I simply couldn't put it down. The romance between these two are just amazing. Brianna is a young woman, whose father has been missing, that is all alone trying to take care of the mill that they own. The hero Sloane is a lawman who rescues Brianna several times in the book from a man who is trying to force her into marriage and take the mill. The love scenes are simply hot. Sloane is just what every woman dreams of. Brianna is a very strong woman. There are parts in this book that she could of just fallen apart but proved how emotionally strong she really is. So if you like reading a western romance that won't be able to put down this is the book for you. I definitely will be buying more book by this author.

Well, you got your pretty girl, tough hero with some issues, a missing father, and a slob who wants to steal the mill the girl is running in her father's absence. Also a banker who wants the mill. Fortunately, the hero saves the girl from the slob kidnapper and his family, the father returns, and everybody lived sexily ever after.

I made a big mistake buying three of this author's books without first sampling one of them. I did it based on the good reviews. I can't believe how other reviewers found the book at all interesting. From the outset, sex talk of a classless nature rears its ugly head and its constant in every scene. Most of the book is internal thoughts, which I hate. The characters are not appealing at all. The hero knows the heroine for all of four days before they "do it"--hardly the time for a full bodied relationship to have developed. I was so disgusted with this book from the first chapter that I jumped to the last 2/3 of the book just to get away from all the internal dialogue and then I didn't care to finish it, which is rare for me. What little action there is is of a superficial nature. Nothing and no one is really fleshed out. I regret having spent the money on this author.
