Once again Mariah Stewart takes us into the beautiful world of "Happily Ever After". I really like the Chesapeake Diaries

Once again Mariah Stewart takes us into the beautiful world of "Happily Ever After". In these times of so much violence, strife and hatred in the world, Mariah offers us a welcome respite into this beautiful place, St. Dennis, MD, and the lives of two beautiful, strong characters who show us that "love can conquer all". I really like the Chesapeake Diaries. Like most of these kinds of books you easily can figure out at the beginning of the book which girl is going to get together with which guy but sometimes it takes a long while with returning to characters from the previous books with follow up. Also there is none of the "steamy" bedroom scenes as some other authors indulge in.

Her dad and former boyfriend are in prison, Ellie has been ostracized by most of her friends despite her innocence, and her trappings of wealth have been confiscated by the government. from the romance bookbox; a cozy town type of series, and although this book was in the middle of the series, it still read well. Ellie inherits her late mother's house on the Bay in Maryland. Her father and ex-fiance went to jail over a Ponzi scheme, and she has nothing - no job, no car, no prospects.

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • Mariah Stewart presents a captivating contemporary romance novel in the tradition of Robyn Carr, Susan Mallery, and Barbara Freethy. As the only child of a wealthy investment manager, Ellie Chapman has never known anything besides a life of perfect privilege. But her years of good fortune come to an abrupt end when her father is exposed for swindling billions of dollars from innocent investors in a massive Ponzi scheme. And just like that, Ellie loses everything: money, job, home—even her fiancé, who’s jailed as her father’s partner in crime. With no job prospects on the horizon, no cash, and her family name in tatters, Ellie has only one place to go.   Sleepy St. Dennis, Maryland, is hardly where Ellie intends to stay, however. Keeping her identity a secret, she plans to sell the house her late mother left her in the small town and use the proceeds to move on with her life. Unfortunately, her ticket to a new beginning is in dire need of a laundry list of pricey improvements, many of which she’ll have to do herself. And until the house on Bay View Road is fit to be sold, the sole place Ellie will be traveling is the hardware store. But as the many charms of St. Dennis—not to mention Cameron O’Connor, the handsome local contractor who has secrets of his own—begin to work their magic, what begins as a lesson in do-it-yourself renovations might just end up as Ellie’s very own rejuvenation.Includes a preview of the next book in the Chesapeake Diaries series, At the River’s Edge

A place to escape, somewhere to hide, to be on her own and to not be judged. But of course no one really knew who she was or what she had escaped. How would she be accepted if they knew. What about this attraction with his handyman who appeared to be taking care of much around the place. What if he knew? Oh why can't she stay here, have a family, at least in memories? What a puzzle...

I loved it from start to finish I could not put it down.
This is numb 7 in the this sears and ir was a truly great book. This whole sears is great just don't read one behind the Luther because then once you read one this good the just don't seem as good it is better to read something else in between so when you are ready to read the next one it is truly great.
But as I have aside in the past please read from the first book or you will be totally lost.

As with her other books in this series, you come to the end wanting to move on to the next one right away, which I do! The characters are terrific and make for an enjoyable read.

I had gotten so enmeshed in Mariah Stewart's books about the family of FBI members, that I had completely forgotten the truly heart warming stories in the Chesapeake Bay Diaries. This one left me in tears of happiness for Ellie, the girl who had lost everything as a result of a conniving and greedy father and came to find herself again through reliving part of the past of her beautiful and loving .mother who had passed away several years before. Cudos to Mariah Stewart for this book. Makes me want to move to St. Dennis.

This novel clearly tells the story of someone broken who can find life, love and fallfilment when they open themselves to it! Very well written!
I'M SO glad I discovered this series. I'm giving up each book and feel a real connection with all of the report characters. Keep'em coming please.
