As most Tarot readings are about relationships, I've found this book quite useful when it comes to improve and heal existing relationships or for people in grief, at the end of the book comes a full explanation of every card when used as a general theme, positive/negative atributes, positive/negative position in a spread and as a question, in all cases.

Choice Centered Tarot is a book I've used for years but somehow lost my copy so I bought another. With all the creative and widely different Tarot decks out these days Gail Fairfield's work is a general purpose explanation of how and why Tarot works along with help in interpreting your readings. Its a good book for beginners just learning Tarot and a reference work for people like me who have been reading Tarot for decades

Gail Fairfield focuses on the psychological meanings that can be found in the symbolism of the cards.

Gail Fairfield focuses on the psychological meanings that can be found in the symbolism of the cards. Rather than simply predicting a future in which we have no real choice, her clear, concise interpretations provide meaningful guidelines that will lead readers to powerful insights and greater self-understanding.

Gail Fairfield's "Choice Centered Tarot" is one of my top 5 tarot books. The tarot is presented as a tool for gaining insights into those choices so we can be more informed and conscious. The section on choosing a deck based on how certain facets of humanity are depicted in the card images is very helpful and thought-provoking. The section on designing your own layouts is deeply empowering!

Gail Fairfield's Choice Centered Tarot possesses a thrust that is rather different from that of the previous book. Its emphasis is primarily on the tarot as a "psychic tool" and thus on divination. There is very little information presented that might create a context (or the symbolism of the cards; one misses the mythological frame, work expounded by Joseph Campbell or by Sally Nicholls. The late Manly P. Hall expressed this well when he wrote: "To those versed in ancient philosophies it appears unfortunate that these cards should be collected and examined mainly in the interest of fortune telling.

"If you believe that you could be psychic, little things will begin to open up for you. Through reading this book, you can learn how to use the tarot cards as an insightful psychic tool." Everyday Tarot, first published as Choice Centered Tarot, is an accessible, thorough introduction to the tarot. Gail Fairfield focuses on the psychological meanings that can be found in the symbolism of the cards. Rather than simply predicting a future in which we have no real choice, her clear, concise interpretations provide meaningful guidelines that will lead readers to powerful insights and greater self-understanding. Fairfield makes the tarot an easy-to-use tool for intuitive information gathering, personal empowerment, and self-discovery, all keys to making great choices about life's dilemmas. She explains everything needed to become a competent card reader - and offers invaluable tips on choosing a deck, designing layouts and giving readings for individuals and groups.

This is a wonderful book and highly recommended. Gail's approach has always been different from the mainstream and that's why I like it.

I do have one bone to pick with the publisher/producer online copy editor of the ebook edition.

Infuriatingly, the punctuation drops out on most of the text. The periods simply disappear. That may sound trifling, but it's extremely irritating, because it interrupts the reader's flow. I haven't finished this yet, and have been reading it on an iPad. I have tried changing the font size to see if it drops out when you embiggen the font. Unfortunately, no - the periods do not appear.

I have done my fair share of copy editing in my professional life, and when I see gross mistakes in copy over and over again, even missing periods, I wonder if content has dropped out as well. One period here and there, well, ok. But multiple missing periods per page? Grrrrr. Sloppy! Greater care is given to print books, but online text still remains problematic.

It's not Gail's fault, as she likely relinquished her control over the text - however, the content is worth the aggravation. But be warned!

Its a good book for beginners just learning Tarot and a reference work for people like me who have been reading Tarot for decades. All the new creative decks come with a little book of the artist's interpretation, but often the reader sees something else in a particular reading or in some of the cards. Choice Centered Tarot helps to interpret your readings which may be different from the artist who created your particular deck.

THis is hands down the best basic structure you can use to build good Tarot reading habits. Number, Suit, Card orientation (upright or reversed) and positive/negative slant is all it uses. It doesn't even get into the picture on the card. This is invaluable because you can use it with any deck, especially pip decks. Use that as a basic layer and then apply any variances of picture, question and layout position.

The best Tarot book I've ever read, and I've read hundreds.

I wish I would have known about this deck when I first started my tarot journey but so glad I got it now. It’s easy to read and straight to the point. Great for beginners or intermediates. Has a great section on numerology so if you are starting to read with pipe decks, this one is a great jumping point from RWS system.

If you're looking for an intelligent, well thought out and organized guide to using tarot cards, this is the best I've ever found. It is not, strictly speaking, a traditional, Waite-deck, 'fortune-telling' approach. Originally published under the title, 'Choice Centered Tarot', this allows one to use the tarot as a guide to reflection, choice-making and everyday living. It can be used for creative projects and busting out of mental ruts. It is also easy to read, use and understand, and it's fun.

I've been reading for over 30 years, and this is *still* my absolute favorite tarot book. I like the different approach she takes to it, addressing symbolism and numerology, rather than just the meanings of the cards. I'm thinking about starting to teach classes and, if people can still get it, this is the book I'll use.

This is an excellent tarot book, especially if you are trying to look beyond the artwork on the cards and deeper into the numerical development and its meanings. Easy to read, easy to understand. Great ideas on how to practice, create spreads, etc. My favorite tarot book ever!!!
Gail Fairfield still after 20 years has a novel approach to tarot that feels very refreshing. Beginner or Expert can truly benefit from this book!
