David F. Myrick (1918-2011) was the author of several books about western history and western railroads, including the three volumes of Railroads of Nevada and Eastern California.

David F. He lived and wrote primarily in Santa Barbara, California. Railroads in Death Valley? This book covers the Tonopah and Tidewater and the Las Vegas and Tonopah railroads and has a chapter on the Boulder City branch that was built during the construction of the Boulder Dam (now called the Hoover Dam). The ending of the book covers street cars in Reno, The book is well documented with photographs of railroads that had a brief existence.

Railroads of Arizona, Vol. 1: The Southern Roads by. David F. Myrick. Arizona Hobbies sells NEW books and NEW videos (DVD and Blu-ray) plus NEW Railroad Maps & Atlases since 1999. I also sell USED titles when I can find them or purchase book collections

The final volume in the complete history of Nevada and Eastern California railroads David Myrick's monumental railroad histories have become essential reference works for railroaders, historians, and hobbyists.

The final volume in the complete history of Nevada and Eastern California railroads David Myrick's monumental railroad histories have become essential reference works for railroaders, historians, and hobbyists. Volume III contains additional information about the northern roads, including some not covered in previous volumes, and about developments since the publication of the first two volumes in the railroads of the region. It provides new facts gleaned from the correspondence of Collis P. Huntington, one of the builders of the Central Pacific and Southern Pacific railroads.

Valuable as these volumes are in relation to railroad operations in Nevada and California, their usefulness as authoritative reference sources embraces a much broader scope. Railroads of Nevada and Eastern California is as much a history of the region as it is a study of the railroads. The principal mines and mills and their production are scrupulously detailed, together with the personalities who created them.

The setting for Volume II is the varied and spectacular geography of southern Nevada and eastern California—from Death Valley and the Mojave Desert to the hard rock tunnels of Goldfield and the isolated communities of Rhyolite and Pioche. This volume also contains an index and an updated locomotive roster.

If you are a railfan, this book is for you. Truckloads of classic, vintage black-and-white photography from a century or more ago with some occasional modern (i.e., not as old) thrown in for good measure. I have been a few of the locations that are documented in this book, and it is outstanding. Worth the money, worth the read, albeit a bit wordy at times.

David Myrick is probably our most prolific historian of frontier railroads. He has somehow restored to life countless short-lived, and a handful of still-operating, lines in the region treated here. Any serious student of mining in the locale will find in this volume information virtually impossible to recover except through years of grueling, if exciting, research. In short, this is an indispensable source for its subject.

Great companion to Volume I. If you ever wanted to read about both small and large railroads along the California/Nevada border this is a must have book. Plenty of photographs and maps.
Incredibly thoroughly researched book, with legions of photos of railroads now long gone, rolling stock and, surprisingly, a lot of mine sites. More detail here in one place on the development of the CA-NV deserts than you'd ever hope to find anywhere else.
