by Edward Sylvester Ellis (Author). Actually the story of the escape from the wolves which begins the book, is the most interesting and best written part of the tale. This is a good old fashioned western story about stout hearted men and plucky women. Full of action it doesn't disappoint. About half way into the story it dawned on me that the background of the story is the Johnson County Cattle War (JCCW) that took place in northeastern Wyoming in the 1890s. My advice would be to read that part and then find another book. The denouement is absolutely the worst ever!
