This book is a compilation of answers to the most frequently asked questions that Mr. Herbert got through his weekly coin clinic column found in the Nusmimatic News. As such, it doesn't read like a normal book. What it does do is assign chapter headings to numerous topics in alphabetical order Abbreviations to Counterfeits to Designs, The Mint, Slang, etc. all the way through to Territorials, Private Issues, State Coins.
Let's just say that it is a wide ranging examination of often interesting, sometimes banal minutiae. There is some stuff that you didn't know and had actually wondered about. There is stuff you never wondered about but when you read it are glad you now know about it. There is stuff, lots of stuff you know and take for granted.
You won't read this cover to cover, more than likely, but you also won't toss it aside and forget about it. You likely will read as much of it as you can take, then scan through the rest and then pick it up again when you come across something you now wonder about and remember seeing it mentioned in this book.
For me, the most interesting Chapter is the Minting Varieties one. That chapter alone has enough information to make the book worth owning.
