This is a wonderful, slightly thicker, addition to my otherwise same-size collection of Santa Claus books and magazines from BH&G (pulled out to reread every December before becoming a part of my Christmas decor). Another reviewer inserted the Table of Contents, so let me add just a bit more detail to help YOU decide whether to purchase.

The pictures are a mix of artist-supplied color photographs of the Santas crafted today, and black and whites (for the historical section) - and they are ALL well-reproduced and lovely to look at. I especially loved the photos of the dollhouse Santas -- had they not been so labeled, I would never have believed they were so TINY! I was formerly unaware of the miniaturists (Oh no! Something ELSE to collect? - lol!)

But the thing I *really* appreciate is the detail of the TEXT. The author points out particular features in the captions to the visuals she included - which is becoming ever more unusual as more and more slide-shows seem to be showing up in the blog-o-sphere. Even the print magazines seem to be succumbing to the "visuals only" format, alas. She also interviewed a great many artists of a diverse mix of Santa styles, located toward the front of the book, and I savored every word about their backgrounds as well as how they got started, where and how they work.

To echo another reviewer, if you are a collector (even of images for your Pinterest Board), and if READING about the backgrounds of the items you collect is part of the delight for you, too, I believe you will LOVE this book. I certainly do.

Nice layout and photos. I would of like more information and background.

Nice depiction of Santa to see the change over time and the primitive to more contemporary version. I havent had time to read the book, but I am looking forward to get into the particulars of how the dolls were made and the inner workings of the Dolls.

I like this book and I've gotten some pointers. Wish it had patterns! Beautiful illustrations and photos.
