I bought this as part of a four book purchase including "Getting Started in Garden Railroading: Build the Railroad of Your Dreams... in Your Own Backyard" by Allan Miller (5 stars), Gorgeous Garden Railways" by Marc Horovitz and Pat Hayward (4 starts), and "Garden Railroading: Getting Started in the Hobby" by Garden Railways Magazine (4 stars).

This book just wasn't for me unfortunately. Perhaps it was too wordy for my humble mind but I felt it tried to cover too much and didn't get into enough detail on anything. Also for a US based garden railroader the emphasis was more on the UK scene and I think was aimed at more "advanced" railroaders such as those using live steam.

Wel
Excellent book by the late Peter Jones. This is not a book of how to go to a store buy up a bunch of ready made stuff and put it in the garden. It has excellent guidelines on the fundamentals plus great techniques for reusing and recycling. Good tips on a variety of subjects and covers the range from super scale models to freelance home made jobs that give as much pleasure.

Fair but not what I was looking for. Could be helpful for new comers to the hobby, but for me to general.

Altho I have enjoyed Garben RRing for years I still got a kick out of this book. It has many great thoughts for the beginning GRRer but for us that has been doing this for a while it is just refreshing reading. Peter has been RRing in the garden longer than I thought GRRing was around.. His writing is always something I look forward to each month in the Garden Railroader magazine each month.

Beginner or advanced you will enjoy this book!!!
