This book provides a foundation in technical communications, with a primary focus on written communications, but also including oral communications. The text provides a basic understanding of audience and writing purpose, as well as tips for writing well and credibly. Information is presented in such a way as to encourage the reader to consider how the basic tenants of good communications apply to their own writing. Rather than giving a set formula or a series of templates, this text seeks to help the reader learn how to adapt their own style to suit the needs of their specific writing project. See the contents for a complete overview. While this text focuses on communications for the information technology, computer science and engineering professional, its ideas are pertinent to most writers in any business or academic field.

I was very dissappointed in this book. I needed this for a master's level technical writing course. It is only 90 pages long and the production quality is low. The most disappointing aspect is that the book contains an unbelievable number of grammatical, punctuation and typographical errors. Not exactly what you want to see in a textbook on how to prepare and present professional technical documents.

This book is very easy to read, almost fun, considering it is a technical writing book. It contains great information about basic business writing, such as how to write proposals and progress reports. There is also an informative (if brief) section on writing resumes and cover letters. Perhaps the best part of this text are the suggestions for how to research, take notes and begin a rough draft of a research paper.

Great book - I kept it after my class, for reference.
