In 1955 Foley moved to Cyprus and took over The Cyprus Times newspaper at a moment in the islands history when a civil war was breaking out between Greek and Turkish Cypriots, and the Greek Cypriot EOKA movement was starting an armed struggle against the British colonial government in Cyprus. He later published a number of books on Cyprus. Island in revolt (London: Longmans, 1962). He also published The memoirs of General Grivas (London: Longmans, 1964), approved by the military leader of EOKA, Georgios Grivas.

The first is that the book is not a historical narrative as much as it is an analytical document - I can easily see this book being used as a college textbook. While this is the best text I can think of for learning about the electricity crisis, some might have a very difficult time sticking with it as it gets very dry in many places. Secondly, this book was published in 2002, in the immediate aftermath of the crisis.
