Was referred this book from my therapist, my anger wasn't as much of an issue as my husbands, but she was right this still helped. It helped me understand my husbands anger and try to help him through his changes as well as controlling my anger with my children.

Read it no matter if you think you have anger issues or not.
I saw this book on the shelf of a couples counselor's office. I asked to borrow it because the title was intriguing, half way through I realized I needed to own it. Being angry all the time is exhausting.

I decided I needed to change my apporach to life so my children did not follow my path. I no longer feel angry but am often perceived as such by language and mannerisms that are habitual. This book explains why anger is harmful to you and those around you. It explains how anger alienates its victim and perpetuates more anger. It dispels the notion that venting is cathartic. It provides specific examples, phrases and exercises that can be incorporated everyday life to practice. This book provides affirmation of concepts I had come to myself. The concepts and tools provided aide in continuous progress in adopting skills for positive communication which achieves far more than angry/negative means.

Understanding and incorporating the concepts and tools provided within this book provides the reader internal, personal and professional gains almost immediately. "Non-Violent Communication" by the same author is also excellent supplemental reading.
Bought this as a gift for my wife. She hasn’t picked it up once...
I'm not big on "self-help" books, but When Anger Hurts is more that a "read", it's also a study and reference manual on managing anger. I keep it on my reading table and continue to review and study it.
This is so far the best anger management book I have came across. The author goes into detail as to what triggers anger from a physical level, up into understanding emotional frustrations and how to work through it. Very good book. I've been dealing with trying to get ahold of my anger for decades, this year I have finally made some headway.
Lots of good information, and recommended by my therapist, but this author uses big fancy words. He could have used more layman terms to make the necessary points. Good thing Kindle is equipped with a dictionary app.
Phallozs Dwarfs
Not what I needed but is a good book
Got my friend to finally see the error of his ways!
