I am always a little reluctant to get a book with an author that I haven't read before, but I am so glad I chose this book. the evidence is that after reading thousands of books, this is the first review I have ever written.

Within minutes of starting this book I was hooked. it is about a horrible subject, the abduction and murder of young girls, but it was handled in such a way that I couldn't stop reading. The characters, both good guys and bad guys, were so believable. The best part was that I didn't figure out who the bad guy was until the author decided to reveal him to me! For me that is rare. Buy this book, you will not regret it!

P.S. I just bought four more of this author's books!
I am new to this genre, usually preferring romance, so please forgive any parts of my review that I "should know already." This book was great! I couldn't put it down! The first thing I loved was 93 chapters! Yahoo! The second was the way in which the author took me on a terrifying ride of my worst nightmare. Hoffman never spent too much time with the kidnapped girls, thus keeping me away from complete despair, but inserted just enough terror there to keep me and the hero working to figure things out until the very end! I was very impressed and now plan to delve into this author's other offerings!
Interesting procedural that needed a better editor. Some thoughts and musings just went on too long, it should take a paragraph, not a page to explain someone's thoughts. While all sorts of law enforcement agencies overlap, you'll get lost in the acronyms. This could have been better as the overall premise is good, but by the end you'll be skimming pages to get to the action. If you want intriguing plots with psychology and terrific characters, try the Kellermans.
This book was hard to read. It is about online predators and Lainey falls victim. The descriptions of characters, events and bodies in story are unnerving.

Lainey is an overlooked 13 year old girl her mother and step-father are too busy to be too involved with her. She is a middle child. The family relocated and she is at a new school. She becomes friends with a boy online and thing begin to go down hill. She is Abducted and she is alone. Her disappearance does not get reported for 2 days. Many assume she is a runaway. Then comes Special Agent Bobby Dees. His life isn't perfect either. His daughter disappeared a year earlier and since then his marriage has failed. He realizes that the last person to have contact with Lainey was online. Lainey is the only one who had disappeared. Lots of kids that are not cared for and considered disposable have been taken too. Bobby Dees is desperately racing to find Lainey.

Hoffman does a great job pulling the reader into the story. The story explores the depths of online predators and it is a captivating read.
This is the 4th book I have read by this author in a month. So that says something right there. I'm going to add her to my favorite author list after just discovering her a month ago. I read the previous three "CJ Townsend" books in order before I bought this one. I guess I'm getting used to her and familiar with the law enforcement departments in Florida.
I appreciate that the books are well edited. No spelling or grammatical errors to speak of. I think I found one, but it was insignificant. This novel read a bit slower than the others as it was not as "on the edge of your seat" as the others, but was still very good and a fairly fast read.

Luckily I was a parent before online social networks! I still remember the first time (and last) time I entered an AOL chat room in the 80's and how unnerved I was when IMs suddenly started popping up on my screen. It was like all of a sudden uninvited people were coming in my house. I immediately closed it and never did it again.
Any parent (or grandparent) that is not up to date on social networking should read this book, then immediately get themselves educated. The book will be a real eye opener for them
A police officer is given the task of tracking a serial child molester even though his own child disappeared a year before this assignment. Despite many connections to the disappearance of his own daughter he tries to stay focused on the individual responsible for kidnapping a number of young women. While the subject of the book is quite disturbing the story is well told.
"The names-they didn't matter. But those faces.. He always remembered a pretty face." Thoughts from an obsessive stalker, a cruel interloper willing, eager to destroy lives. He felt no remorse, rather, he felt himself getting excited about what he had done, t h e utter ruthlessness that earned his deeds a spot on the prime time news.
19 girls were missing. A cyber-ghost was sending instant messages on a Yahoo account. A faceless phantom writes, "C u 2 morrow."signed by ElCapitan. But who is this football hunk?
Jillian Hoffman doesn't mince words as she fleshed out her brutally frank, in the vernacular of today, account of a depravity that sucks life blood from Pretty Little Things. Abduction, brutality and terror grow with pitched intensity throughout this well written novel. Get it, read it, face the horror that walks our streets. Waiting.
If you are curious, or if you have been close to tragedy, or perhaps have teenaged children, this stark reality, no holds barred book is for you. Be prepared to cringe. Hide your face, or head. This is raw reality, and a fast paced, page turner.
