Story line would be very scary for most Kids under age 9 or 10. I bought the box set and we started with a different book, The School Skeleton. In the school skeleton, the kids solve a mystery but there is no danger or threat.
In this book, the empty envelope, the children are threatened and intimidated and followed and chased by menacing looking people.
They then go to the police to get help and capture of the criminals.
But make no mistake this is about a real crime and real criminals chasing children.
My son is 7 and I do not think that this subject matter the way it is told with criminals showing up to a kids house with no parents around is age appropriate.
This is a page turner and i wanted to find out what happened.
I think this will scare a lot of kids.
I must say as a child I read many books that were not age-appropriate because of my reading level. I am now frustrated that I will have to read each A-Z mystery to determine whether or not it is age-appropriate for my child .

My son loves these books. Great read for him. He's 8. It holds his attention. He reads it from cover to cover at one time. As a parent it's great to have a child that loves to read. I would recommend this book.

My students love the A to Z mysteries and wanted some new ones in our classroom library. This one seems to be a hit just as the others are. They are great chapter books for students who are just getting into longer books.
