Problems on two fronts with this book for me. First, the editing by the publisher is quite poorly done, I found many of those mistakes and it detracted from the story for me.
I also felt the writing to be on a very elementary level. Seems to me the romance was revisited in much the same way time after time.
The back cover indicated there would be some excitement, which I expected would fire things up, but that turned out to be near the final forth of the novel and lasted for 2 or 3 pages. A "come-on" I now feel is pretty deceiving.
Over-all I'm sorry to have spent this kind of money on this poorly written and uninteresting novel. I truly was disappointed.

I can not believe that two other reviewers rated this so highly. Obviously they have not read books by Radclyfee, Gerri Hill, Frankie Martin, Marian Martin and others. This was a "Oh, I love you at first sight" and then more "I love U's" with little character development or plot. I will not be purchasing any of her upcomng 8 books. I gave 4 of hers a try and that is it! We have many more really gifted romance writers. I suggest you purchase their works...don't wast your money on this one.

Tremendously enjoyable

This was a romantic, exciting, thrilling and in one scene violent novel.

I was totally captivated by the story of Jessica and her family. I found her love interest, the chief of police, an utterly interesting person and could not get enough of her.

Jessica had been without romance for so long that it was completely realistic how quickly she fell in love and it was also the right point in her life with both niece and nephew, who she had raised, leaving home.

I was most impressed that the aftermath of an extremely violent situation was not dismissed in the next chapter - again and again it was emphasized that the after effects needed to be addressed even though the situation had happily been resolved.

Above all this is a wonderfully romantic novel that is very sexy without ever being gratuitous.

I am looking forward to reading other novels by this author who understands romance and what readers enjoy. Don't miss my other favorites 'Family Love' , Hawaiian Love' , 'Real Love' and 'A Love Times Four'.

I struggled with the rating for this book I would really rate it as 4 3/4 stars.
This story pulled me in and would not let go...even after I finished reading the book. It was very thought provoking. The love, warmth, strength, and loyalty, of the title and supporting characters filled my heart. As I sit here and reflect on the authors concept of family values, I realize that I would be very lucky to meet a woman like Jessica, her family, and friends!
The only problem I had with the romantic aspects of this story was how quickly Jessica and Andy fell in love, even though they are taking it slow and not hurrying their relationship. Taking it slow is lots of "heavy" make-out sessions, which are very Hot and Sexy. When they finally decide to consummate their love be prepared to break a sweat...it is Erotic!!!!
Ms. McCann does a nice job with the suspense portion of the story and is extremely sensitive and realistic in her approach to the stressful consequences a violent crime has on its survivors. This is when the author establishes the total strength and love in this story and really comes at the readers heart!!!
I recommend you buy..read..and share this book with friends and lovers...even better write a review!!!!
Slowly writer
This book made me think of 2 high school kids. It was not a good read at all. Built on the premise of a suspense novel, the whole build up lasted all of about 5 minutes. I am like the other reviewer, after reading Radclyffe this was like reading a book written by a high schooler.

Full of romance,suspense! I do think the author could tone down the 'we slept together, now let's get married" aspect of some of her books. This book was very interesting and I'm glad I bought it!

I never felt the need to write a review, I love most of my threehundred lesbian novels, however this one couln't go unnoticed
I totally agree with M.E.Martin; this is a very poorly written book, no depth in caracters, repeating the same lines in every chapter and a mix-up with the names. The editor did a lousy job...
The storyline may have been a nice one, but it need a lot of work to make it a good book.
