An amazing resource book full of detailed descriptions of the human condition and how it can break down.
This is the first edition with color photos, some of which can be gruesome, but they all bring reality to the reader.
A dictionary on medical terminology and the use of Latin is recommended to be used alongside this book.

The sections on nutrition and especially on vitamins are throwbacks from 1970s thinking. For example, there is a very short section on vitamin C for colds saying that doses larger that the RDI were tried but didn't work. It's just not true. No studies or references given. No wonder doctors are still functionally illiterate on nutrition 40 years after Pauling's first book and 70 years after Klenner's clinical breakthroughs.

The graphs of algorithms, or the step by step approach to problems, show the average reader how doctors are dealing with their illness and why they do the tests they do.

I've been using the online edition of Harrison's 16th for a while now, and only just got the physical book. Even though the print is tiny and there's a dearth of white space to rest your eyes, the colorized text boxes are a big help. I really like the Treatment boxes in with color-coordinated headings - it makes it much easier to get to the heart of what you're looking for. Also, the charts in color make a difference that you don't necessarily appreciate in the online version.

Harrison's is of course The Bible of internal medicine. No other text I know of contains quite the wealth of information on pretty much every topic in internal medicine. This edition lives up to its stellar reputation in the IM world.

Very misleading description. Not a true two volume set. Just the second book.

good
This is by far the most comprehensive and easy to read book I have seen in medicine. Something I wish I had purchased when in medical school instead of buying all these other smaller books which do not give you enough and as good of information. Highly recommended for medical graduates. However, I would not recommend this book for RNs or even PAs, because it gives you detailed information that you would most probably won't need.
