This expanded, 2 volume, 6th edition of this text, has appropriately been endorsed as the standard reference text in the subspecialty by the International Pediatric Nephrology Association. This edition is far superior to the last edition, as the expansion to 2 volumes has maximized truly comprehensive topic reviews. The book has been rewritten with an overall global perspective, and is suitable as a reference for Board examinations in any country in the world. Over 30% of the chapters are completely rewritten by new authors (all authorities in their fields), and the remaining chapters have been thoroughly updated and enhanced. The book continues its excellent tradition of regular author turnover to keep the text refreshingly new. The book is obviously meant to complement standard Internal Medicine Nephrology texts, and initially focuses on the unique nature of developmental renal physiology which is highly relevant for anyone taking care of children with renal disorders. This is followed by chapters on the pathophysiology of fluid, electrolyte, and minerals disorders in pediatric patients. The book then systematically progresses through well-organized comprehensive reviews of the clinical evaluation of pediatric patients with suspected renal disease, including an extensive handling of diagnostic renal imaging. The text then progresses through sections on Renal Glomerular and Tubular Disorders, which consists of high quality chapters written by authorities in the chosen topics. The subsequent chapters are organized into unique sessions on Pediatric Hypertension, Acute and Chronic Dialysis and Pediatric Renal Transplantation. These comprehensive, state-of-the-art chapters alone are worth the price of the text. As introduced in the last edition,a unique section on Investigative Techniques for research in nephrology has been enhanced, and provides critical resources for fellows or junior faculty. This is simply the standard, comprehensive reference in Pediatric Nephrology, and should be on the shelf of anyone taking care of children with renal disease. The text is the most utilized resource in our nephrology clinic, and is given to all IPNA-trained fellows upon graduation from regional training centers. I look forward to the next edition, which will hopefully further take advantage of the new relationship between the textbook and IPNA. This text sets the standard by which all other texts in the field should attempt to attain.

The fifth edition was one of the best books I had ever seen and so, I was eagerly waiting for this edition. It still has the same high standards, but I am disappointed at the number of typos and bad grammar throughout the book that makes it unreadable. The editors should have taken more care.
